New face in town (For
killerfarmhand
Merle wasn't sure what to make of the new face yet. She was new to the town, new to his group, but she'd survived a night alone with geeks biting at her heels. Meant she had to have some skills to last out there so long, o at least one hell of a strong will to keep moving forward.
He approached her slowly and shifted his weight to one foot. His good hand slips into his pocket while the other hangs loosely at his side. "You gonna keep me company on watch tonight there, sweetheart?"
The words are drawled out, teasing and friendly enough. Friendly as Merle ever got anyway.

The night the herd had come through, Maggie had tried to stay with Glenn, but when she saw her sister get cornered, she ran to help. And in the melee, she'd gotten separated from the group and had to run. She tried to stay close to the farm in case they came back, but they never did and she ended up spending the night in a deer stand.
When morning came, she started toward a local highway, where she literally ran in the Governor and his group. They were kind enough to take her back to Woodbury, where they fed her and gave her clothes to wear. The Governor even seemed sympathetic when she told him she'd lost her family, and even promised to keep an eye out for them while out on supply runs.
That evening, the Governor asked her to do wall duty with Merle since he wanted to see how well they worked together. She'd interacted with him a few times and he was no different from some of the guys she'd grown up with.
"That's what the Governor wants. He wants to see how well we work together," she said as she shifted the gun on her shoulder and started up the ladder. "And, stop lookin' at my ass."
( ooc: Don't worry about being busy since I've been pretty busy myself. <3 )

Wanted to see how well they worked together... They'd work together as well as they could. Merle had learned a thing or two about team work since coming here if only because the Governor wouldn't put up with his shit here and he didn't want to get left on anymore roofs, now did he? Or even worse.
He knew just what the guy was capable of after all.
"So, how are you settlin' in anyway?" It was idle chatter, something to pass the time with.
( ooc: Thanks! <3 Hope things settle down for you in that case :) Or at least that it's a fun kinda busy! Haha. )

Once on the wall, Maggie sat down on one of the folding lawn chairs someone had left up there. Sitting down was better than standing. She sat her gun across her la and started to look out into the woods. When he asked his question, she shrugged her shoulders.
"I'm gettin' there. Still miss my family, but I guess they're in a better place since they ain't livin' in this one anymore." She really didn't know if they were dead or not, but she believed they were. "D'ya have family?"
( ooc: Hope things settle down for you, too! I think I'm going to be busy until Thanksgiving vacation, lol. )

He rested his own gun beside him and looked around, keeping an eye out for anything that'd need more of their attention. Coast was clear for now though.
"Lost'em, huh?" Most people had anymore, so it wasn't an unusual story or anything. He cleared his throat at the question and shrugged. "Had. A kid brother... like to think he's still out there somewhere. Taught him how to survive."
And Daryl was a fast learner... more than he gave him credit for.
(ooc: Aww, haha. That sucks! And yeah, I think they kind of are for me, thank you!)

At least she hoped they would. They were family and family was supposed to protect each other.
"If he knows how to survive, then I bet he is. That's what people need nowadays," she said.
Maggie didn't say anything for a moment as she watched some movement in the bushes. It was nothing buy a fox, and she watched to run off.
"How long have ya known the Governor?"

He clears his throat, eyeballing that fox as it makes its way away from the camp.
"Like it here so far?"

"But, I like it here.. People seem nice, and things are organized. Not sure what I would've done without y'all findin' me. No way I could survive by myself, especially since I'd lost my gun," she said before stretching her legs out. She then looked at Merle and found herself softly nudging him.
"Saw that Karen woman starin' at ya the other day. Is she your girlfriend?" she asked. It probably wasn't any of her business, but she was trying to make conversation.
So sorry this is late!
He shifts a little bit and nods. Most the people here were alright and anyone or thing that was off? Well, he'd keep it to himself. Better that way.
"Karen?" He laughs. "Nah. She's just... somebody I know. Why? You jealous, girlie?"
